Drei mit Kieselsteinen gefüllte Tonmühlen Skulpturen stehen am Wegrand des Klangweg Toggenburg

Tonmühlen

2002, Klassik-Edition, Jürg Schneider (CH)

If you close your eyes and listen as you turn the sound mills, you can hear an amazingly familiar melody from nature: a sound like that made when water murmurs through a bed of stones, a gurgling and a gushing like in a brook bed.

Each of the seven sound mills from the ceramics studio of Jürg Schneider Bachmann has its own sound and special structure. Inside, pebbles fall on steel rods as soon as you turn the wheels. They grind familiar sounds.
