Klangwelt Toggenburg Foundation

The Klangwelt Toggenburg Foundation, based in Eastern Switzerland, combines culture, nature and music to create unique experiences. It creates places where sound, tradition and encounters come alive and builds bridges between regional roots and international forms of sound.

Mission and purpose

The foundation preserves the musical heritage of Toggenburg, from the sounds of nature to yodelling culture and the craft of sound, and develops it creatively. At the same time, it invites people to rediscover these traditions and combine them with sound cultures from all over the world. In this way, the diversity of sound is not only preserved, but also develops in a future-orientated way. The foundation thus makes an important contribution to the cultural, social and economic revitalisation of Eastern Switzerland.

Commitment and activities

The foundation realises its goals through a variety of projects:

  • Sound Trail: Almost 30 sound stations invite you to actively explore sounds

  • Sound Festival: Every two years, the festival brings together musicians from the region and around the world

  • Courses, workshops and symposia: Various formats open up paths to new forms of expression and the shared experience of sound

  • Sound Smithy: Traditional crafts such as the forging of bells are combined with special sound experiences

A special highlight is the Klanghaus at the Schwendisee. With four acoustically unique rooms and two open-air stages, it offers a place where tradition and innovation meet - for everyone who wants to feel, explore and share sound.
