Visitors who come to the Toggenburg region when the Alps are lush and green will not only see a unique landscape, they will also hear it.
A concert of cowbells
The continuous sound of a concert of cowbells swinging on the necks of grazing cattle can be heard everywhere. On the Toggenburg sound trail, you can join in by moving more slowly or faster through the bell stage. Your body will set the bells in motion and, depending on how you move, create your own melody. This is a great way to experience what it is like to be part of a herd of cattle. You are creating sound and are surrounded by sound, just like the animals in the Alps.
Forging bells
The large variety of different-sized bells are a cultural asset in Toggenburg. You can try it out: the Klangwelt Toggenburg teaches the traditional craft of bell-forging in the sound smithy. Visitors can take courses in the former mill in Alt St. Johann to forge their own bells, gongs and other sound bodies.
