A vision becomes reality – the opening of the Klanghaus Toggenburg
We are delighted to celebrate the opening of the Toggenburg Sound House! What once began as a vision of Peter Roth has become a reality thanks to the commitment of numerous people, companies, organizations and financial backers. Peter's creative spirit has inspired us and created a world of sound that impressively combines tradition and modernity. With the Klanghaus, the Resonance Center, the Sount Trail and the Sound Smithy, we have created spaces for music, culture and vibrant encounters that are deeply rooted in the magnificent natural landscape of our valley.
After years of extensive preparation and work, it is now time to enjoy the diverse cultural offerings of our opening year. This celebration extends beyond the opening day and is a celebration of our community that we would like to experience together with you. It marks the beginning of a new chapter, and we warmly invite everyone to fill this special place with life. Let us celebrate Toggenburg and make it resound with music together!

A place of inspiration and creation
The opening of the Klanghaus Toggenburg marks the creation of a brand new musical ecosystem, a resounding biotope for all music lovers, sound researchers, sound nerds and folk musicians. The diversity of sound culture that will unfold in the Klanghaus Toggenburg is as diverse as the biodiversity found in the Lake Schwendi nature reserve.
Amazing things happen when people come together through music. The power and magic of music has always been an example of how people or unknown worlds can open up and find harmony with each other. Music connects across all borders and is exemplary for peaceful understanding between individuals, attitudes and cultures.
That is why our cultural and course program will be diverse and varied in the future. We are giving sound a new home, opening spaces for the most diverse cultural traditions, new art forms, dialogue and new creations, but also for the cultivation of identities that have grown over generations. Tradition meets innovation, experience meets ideas, and art meets life.
The Klanghaus is a workshop, a new center of inspiration and creation. Now we are opening our doors and inviting everyone to join us in celebrating and participating in what is being created, whether it is complete or still in an open, evolving process.

The Klanghaus is filling with sound
With the opening of the Klanghaus, we are proud to present a new architectural landmark and a vibrant cultural center. We warmly invite you to a two-day celebration with a diverse program!
On Saturday, we will open the doors to the new building and host a diverse concert program. Together, we will bring the Klanghaus to life, with everything from yodeling clubs, solo artists, music clubs, jazz musicians, singer-songwriters, and rock bands. You can look forward to 12 hours of music, captivating concerts, and a festival that invites you to dance, feast, and make music.
On Sunday, the day begins with an ecumenical service at Lake Schwendi. This is followed by a matinee in honor of the architect Marcel Meili, before voices from the region and around the world can be heard in the afternoon. The Bosnian singer Amira Medunjanin will be the first international artist to perform on our stage.
The Churfirstenchörli and the children's choirs KlingKlang and KlangArt will round off the event with local melodies.

Susanne Hartmann, President of the Cantonal Government of St. Gallen
Dear St. Gallen residents,
Ladies and gentlemen,
The canton of St. Gallen is far more than the sum of its regions. Last fall at the OLMA, we were able to experience how closely our diversity connects: people from all parts of the canton appeared together and impressively presented what St. Gallen stands for.
The Klanghaus Toggenburg is a new milestone in this living diversity. Located near Lake Schwendi, it combines the unique sound tradition of Toggenburg with modern architecture. Concerts, workshops and creative encounters are possible here, embedded in the fascinating natural setting of the Alpine foothills. The Klanghaus makes a valuable contribution to our canton's cultural identity and cohesion.
Likewise, the Theater St.Gallen, Werdenberg Castle, the Hof zu Wil or our UNESCO World Heritage Abbey Library exemplify how places of exchange can strengthen our identity. St.Gallen has a long tradition of creating space for culture, knowledge and shaping the future.
Let us continue this tradition by allowing the many sounds of our canton to resonate and thereby forming a harmonious whole. I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this vibrant togetherness.
Together, we ensure that the canton of St.Gallen continues to shine in all its diversity in the future.

The opening weekend of the Klanghaus Toggenburg has finally arrived!
This unique building, whose history began over thirty years ago in this wonderful place, is more than just the cozy wood from which it is built; it is more than the space it occupies in the harmonious surroundings of Lake Schwendi: The Klanghaus embodies the connection between traditional folk culture and modern cultural engagement. Thanks to the tireless commitment of a large number of creative people from all over the canton, a visionary idea is finally being realized with the Klanghaus. As a walk-in instrument, the Klanghaus enables the mediation and thus the cultivation and strengthening of the tradition of natural-tone music that is deeply rooted in the Toggenburg region. Furthermore, as a central element of the Klangcampus, it will provide an impetus and added value for the entire region, and thus radiate far beyond the borders of our canton.
The Klanghaus adds a unique element to the already diverse cultural canton of St. Gallen: it represents the uniqueness and at the same time the diversity of the regions in our canton. The Klanghaus also stands for the courage and drive to confidently embrace the future, despite all difficulties and obstacles.
I would like to thank everyone involved in making this special project a reality. The Klanghaus has been opened – let's make it come alive with sound!
